(WTR) Is an approach that encourages students to write in response to what they read. They provide oral or written responses that include summaries, analyses, evaluations and syntheses.
We are an educational site dedicated to the teaching of effective written communication. We offer online writing courses for grades 3 and up, coaching sessions for authors and parent educators, and other services to homeschooling cohorts .
Buddinwriters aims to empower educators to cultivate habits of reading, thinking, and writing in every student so that these students will become effective life-long communicators in their learning environment and beyond.
I was pleased with my child’s response to reading until I tried WTR with her. She was comfortable with summarizing, but once we got to the reaction stage, she began to express frustration. I realized then, that WTR is what my daughter needed to develop the skill and habit of responding to questions that go beyond the text.

My students have utilized Dr. Watts’ simplified method RID PWD ( Read, Identify, Determine, Plan, Write, Double check) of tackling test prompts. My regular students were just as effective as my advanced students in deciphering test prompts. It was amazing to see all my students experience the same level of success.
